How Can You Be Involved?
The State Government will provide funding for organizations to work with individuals when firm links are established with employers. These employers must be willing to employ our clients when they are suitably qualified and well prepared for work.
If you are an employer:
- Please tell us the special skills and qualities you are looking for when employing staff. If we can identify a client who fits the bill, would you consider them for a job? If so, Odyssey would provide you, the employer, with ongoing support and the training you require for that employee, including a safety net to help them re-enter the workforce. Odyssey will also receive funding to help us provide support for other clients. We would love to hear from you!!!
- Are you having trouble identifying staff who have the specific skills you need? Odyssey may be able to train our people to meet your needs and provide you with a long term, reliable source of new employees. We can arrange customized support and formal tickets and licenses if this guarantees our client a job.
- If you are an employer looking for a worker in drug and alcohol, cookery, horticulture or administration, we can arrange a traineeship. You will receive a wage subsidy and we will provide accredited training and assessment. Traineeships are not limited to Odyssey clients. If you have employed a part-time worker in the past 12 months, or a full-time worker in the past three months, and they require training, we could sign them as a trainee. Odyssey will receive funding to support our full range of employment and rehabilitation programs and you as the employer will receive a subsidy.
If you are an interested person:
You could become a mentor for our senior clients who are re-entering the workforce and taking the huge step of moving from 12-18 months residential rehabilitation into the mainstream community. Whilst these clients receive the close support of our Aftercare program, they also need to develop relationships with people who are not part of the drug and alcohol scene. You may work in a similar industry and want to help someone to develop their career or have a similar recreational interest and be willing to meet with the client regularly for a given period of time.
If you are interested in any of these options, or can offer support for Odyssey’s employment program in some other form, please contact:
